ANDRE BARKER

In his new series, Andre Barker explores the experience of Black identity using symbolic elements. Specifically, the “Thank You, Come Again” plastic bag partially over the head as a metaphor for the feelings of disposability and discomfort that can arise in predominantly white spaces. Barker illustrates this with a literal white space or a sketchy surrounding to further separate the Black individuals occupying the canvas.
